The Sky Where a Dream Came True…
夢が叶った空…
ひまわり畑で
ふと飛行機の音がして
空を見上げた…
幼い頃からずっと
パイロットになることを夢見ていた
あの子が
青い空を飛んでいた…
ずっと抱き続けてきた夢が
本当に叶ったんだね…
うれしくて
胸が少し高鳴った…
虹の上のシマエナガたちも
太陽に向かって伸びるひまわりたちも
「夢が叶ってよかったね…」と
一緒に祝福しているよう…
In a field of sunflowers,
I suddenly heard the sound
of an airplane
and looked up at the sky…
There he was,
flying through the blue sky—
the boy who had dreamed
of becoming a pilot
ever since he was little…
The dream he had held onto
for so long
had finally come true…
I was so happy,
and my heart began to flutter…
The shima-enaga
(long-tailed tits) on the rainbow
and the sunflowers reaching
toward the sun
seemed to be celebrating with me,
as if to say,
“We’re so glad your dream
came true…”
※この作品は、もともと私自身が飛行機が好きだったこと、
そして母から聞いた若い頃の話、
さらに友人がパイロットになったことなど、
いろいろなイメージが重なって生まれた作品です。
母は若い頃、パイロットになりたくて、
お金を握りしめて家を出ようとしたところを祖父に見つかり、
そのまま連れ戻され、
その後、父とお見合いをして結婚したという話を聞いたことがあります。
そんなこともあり、
このウサギのパイロット姿を見たときに、
こういう作品にしようと思いました。
夢が叶ってよかったね、という気持ちを込めて、
ひまわりやシマエナガ、
幼なじみのウサギちゃんなど、
みんなから「よかったね」と
あたたかく祝福されているようなものを感じてもらえる作品にしたいと思い、
作りました。
※This piece was inspired by many different images:
my own love of airplanes,
a story my mother once told me about her younger days,
and the fact that a friend of mine became a pilot.
When my mother was young,
she wanted to become a pilot.
She once tried to leave home with money in her hand,
but my grandfather found her and brought her back.
After that, she had an arranged meeting with my father
and married him.
With memories like these in mind,
when I saw this rabbit dressed as a pilot,
I knew I wanted to create a piece like this.
With the feeling of,
“I’m so glad your dream came true,”
I included sunflowers, long-tailed tits,
and the rabbit’s childhood friend,
hoping to create a warm sense of everyone celebrating her
and saying, “I’m so happy for you.”
