A Little Traveler in Paris…

パリの小さな旅人

パリの街角で、

ふと見かけた小さな旅人…

大きなスーツケースを抱えて、

車を止めようとしていた…

どこへ行くつもりなのだろう…

何を探しているのだろう…

でも気がつくと、

その姿はもう見えなくなっていた…

あれは本当にいたのか、

それとも、

旅好きな私が見た幻だったのか…

A Little Traveler in Paris…

On a quiet street in Paris,

I caught sight of a tiny traveler…

Holding an oversized suitcase,

trying to stop a passing car…

Where could he be going…?

What could he be searching for…?

But when I looked again,

he was nowhere to be seen…

Was he really there,

or was he only a little illusion

seen by a traveler like me…?

※ この作品は、私の大好きなフランス・パリの街を旅する、
というイメージで作りました。

街の雰囲気を思い浮かべながら構成を考えていた時、
ふと赤ちゃんのシールが目に入り、
「この赤ちゃんを使ってみよう」と思ったことから、
この作品が生まれました。

今回は、いくつもの素材を重ねた
レイヤーの表現にも少し注目していただけたら嬉しいです。

赤ちゃんが旅をするという、
現実には少しありえないような設定ですが、
そんな小さな不思議さも楽しみながら、
見た時に心がほんわかとあたたかくなるような物語にしたいと思い、
この作品を仕上げました。

※ This piece was created around the idea of traveling
through the streets of Paris, a city in France that I love very much.

While I was thinking about the atmosphere of the city
and planning the composition,
a baby sticker suddenly caught my eye,
and I thought, “I’d like to use this baby.”
That idea became the starting point for this piece.

For this work, I would also be happy if you notice
the way the different materials are layered together.

Of course, a baby traveling like this is not something
that would normally happen in real life,
but I wanted to enjoy that little touch of imagination
and create a gentle story that might leave the viewer
with a warm and comforting feeling.
